I Was a Really Good Mom Before I Had Kids Reinventing Modern Motherhood
I Was a Really Good Mom Before I Had Kids Reinventing Modern Motherhood

“I don’t know how she does it!” is an oft-heard refrain about mothers today. Funnily enough, most moms agree they have no idea how they get it done, or whether they even want the job. Trisha Ashworth and Amy Nobile spoke to mothers of every stripe working, stay-at-home, part-time and found a surprisingly similar trend in their interviews. After enthusing about her lucky life for twenty minutes, a mother would then break down and admit that her child’s first word was “Shrek.” As one mom put it, “Am I happy? The word that describes me best is challenged.” Fresh from the front lines of modern motherhood comes a book that uncovers the guilty secrets of moms today . . . in their own words. I Was a Really Good Mom Before I Had Kids diagnoses the craziness and offers real solutions, so that mothers can step out of the madness and learn to love motherhood as much as they love their kids.

5 Stars A good laugh
I loved this book. As a fairly new mom (daughter just turned 5) I could relate to everything in this book. Even though I know others have the same troubles, it was comforting to see that mom’s across the country are just as tired and frustrated though blessed as I am.
This book was a quick read (which is good since I have only 5-10 minutes at a time of quiet time)….I nodded my head in agreement so many times. And laughed alot too. I great, casual read!
5 Stars Awesome book
I enjoyed the realistic view of motherhood most mothers don’t talk about for fear of other moms viewing them as anything else than a “happy” mom.
5 Stars Quirky & Fun
I really liked this book. While I try to live my life without considering what other people think…sometimes the messages of expectations for the modern mom become overwhelming. This book validates those challenges. This book was a breath of fresh air for me - it brought to light the hidden thoughts roaming around my subconscious in a funny, uplifting way. I love that she said “4 is the new 5 o’clock - and go ahead and pour yourself a glass of wine!” Many new moms take their former corporate work ethic into their parenting style and need permission to relax and enjoy motherhood. It also acknowledges that the transformation into motherhood is new and can be stressful. We should all do our best to support moms in whatever context they need it. Everyone deserves that. Thanks for a terrific, lighthearted book for new moms!
5 Stars Such a great book!
This book is just a realistic outlook on motherhood from a people who seem to strive to be non-judgmental. I am SO tired of mothers on the playground that say “oh, you’re child’s not doing THAT yet?”…this book reminds you that it’s ok to say “well, no he’s not and that is ok with me!”.
Great read for Mom’s who are tired of all the playground politics and the other mothers who make you feel like you are doing a bad job! It’s time to show them that every child develops differently and that every family unit isn’t the same…and that is the way it should be!
5 Stars Like a good therapist
I enjoyed this book a lot. It gave me a lot to think about. It’s a very easy read and I found it inspiring. I liked that it sort of validated some of the thoughts I’ve been having… and it helped me to see that some of these feelings are universal. It also offers useful suggestions on how to think more positively about certain things. I give it two thumbs up.

4 Stars The title says it all!
This is a great resource for any teacher who wants to inform his/her writing instruction in their classroom. I feel that this book helped me plan purposeful and authentic writing experiences for my students. A must have!
5 Stars Super teaching help!
This book helps teachers explore the art of teaching with children. It has many teacher friendly lesson plans that coordinate well with 6 Traits teaching.
4 Stars A Good “Starter” Book
This is not an in-depth, philosophical treatment of writing (though some may say the author accomplishes it indirectly), but an example after example fun activity tool for teachers–sprinkled with nuggets of wisdom throughout. For those who find such things useful (I don’t necessarily) this latest edition includes rubrics, portfolio assessment, and writing across the curriculum. Even if you find only a small portion helpful, the purchase is worth the price. Suitable for primary through middle school.

5 Stars Teaching Writing
I found this to be one of the most useful books for teaching writing skills. It is loaded with ideas that can be used in the classroom and can be used with teaching teachers how to teach writing skills. This book has some of the most creative and effective ideas I have seen in a long time. In fact I loaned it to someone about a year ago and have not seen it since. This demonstrates its quality. It is an easy read with samples that one can use in class forever. I recommend it highly.
5 Stars excellent resource for upper-elementary writing teachers
This book provides numerous ideas and suggestions for creative and purposeful writing activities for upper elementary level students. The activities are easy to intergrate in a busy classroom, can be adapted for different grade and ability levels, and the kids love them!

5 Stars Very Pleased
Very please with purchase and the seller. My item arrived way before the estimated date. Will do business with again. Thank you
4 Stars Another good Elmo video
My 19-month-old loves Elmo, and this is another great video. There are a couple of slow parts, during the drawing section, and I’m a little disappointed that the singing portion is duplicated in another Elmo video we have, but other than that, it’s kept his interest.
4 Stars Elmo’s World - Singing, Drawing & More
My grandson likes it-not quite as much as “The Best of Elmo”, but watches most of it.
5 Stars pineapples do sing
Elmo’s World is a really cute DVD. My little brother and sister love it! I have heard the songs so many times I sing them in my head when I’m not even watching it. If you have little kids you must buy Elmo’s World! If your kids are a little older like me the craft DVD called Crafty Fun will be great for them.
5 Stars GREAT!
My son loves this dvd! It’s hard to find something that will grab their attention, and still be a good learning experience. This is a great dvd for your toddler.
